The cocker is a very different dog  to train  than the Springer or Labrador as some of you may be finding out.

Having won some 42 Field Trial Awards with 11 different cockers to date, I know that training the  cocker  does not always run smoothly.   When I first acquired a cocker  15 years ago I was  fortunate enough to have the late HEDLEY MILLINGTON  of NANCARROW fame  [THE COCKER MAN] as my mentor.  Hedley’s wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm for the breed helped me enormously to understand these endearing  little ‘pocket rockets’ with their endearing little foibles!

Not everyone  aims to  Field Trial,    but even  in the beating line,  picking up or rough shooting it is far more pleasurable to work   a dog with a  modicum of manners.

I have been helping people train their gundogs for the past 16 years and currently  hold a weekly general  gundog class  throughout the summer months  Coming from a teaching background  I  aim to hold a friendly,  relaxed and enjoyable training course  where everyone is encouraged what ever their ability or aspirations.
